On April 16, 2025, the U.S. Copyright Office conducted an online webinar, “Find Your Voice: Copyright Essentials for Musicians.” This was the second event in a three-part educational series for creators in the visual art, music, and literary professions. In the second session, the Copyright Office discussed what musicians, including performers and songwriters, should know about copyright. We covered the difference between musical works and sound recordings, streamlined application options, and how our Public Information Office can help. Attendees also learned copyright basics, found answers to commonly asked questions, and where to find Copyright Office educational resources.
