Could this be my favourite Lakes route? Heavenly singletrack around the Patterdale valley One cold but clear November morning, Andy, Shaun and I set off from Patterdale in the Lake District to ride what can only be described as incredible singletrack trails, one on each side of the valley. It's a loop I have done previously so I knew how good it was, but I think it out-surpassed Andy's expectations by a Country Mile. Shaun, of course, said it was 'alright' 😂 I guess many would not associate the Lakes with singletrack as quite a few of the better known trails are doubletrack; still fantastic of course, but the the 1-2' wide winding trail is surely what we all crave. It is out there, in abundance, you just need to search for it and when you do find it, then it's hard to not be mesmerised by how fantastic it is. Of course, the landscape you are riding through lifts the experience to another level and to ride it on a clear autumnal day.... my favourite time of the year in the Lake District.
