I get to take the kids away as part of my job every weekend, So this weekend we went to the Gate M West Bund Dream Center (Gate M 西岸梦中心) it is a premier 45,000 cultural and leisure district in Shanghai. Transformed from what was once Asia's largest cement factory, this award-winning urban renewal project by MVRDV blends industrial heritage with modern retail, dining, and art. It is known for its striking bright orange staircases and circulation elements that navigate visitors through repurposed industrial "shells". 📍 Location & Access Address: No. 2266 Longteng Avenue, Xuhui District, Shanghai. Metro: Take Line 11 to Longyao Road Station (Exit 1 or 2). From there, it is approximately a 10-minute walk. Vibe: Open-air, pet-friendly riverside destination often compared to Aranya for its relaxed, "city walk" atmosphere. 🛍️ Highlights & Amenities The district is organized into several key zones that repurpose historical structures: The M Factory: The centerpiece of the site, now housing a food market, retail shops, and a massive column-free event space on the upper floor.
