J'ai construit un PIGEONNIER ! 🕊️

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago, I decided to take on a crazy challenge: To build a small cabin almost entirely from reclaimed materials for our abandoned presbytery… while making sure it matched the beautiful church standing right across the street ⛪ The goal was simple: 👉 create a storage space for our tools and materials 👉 keep costs as low as possible 👉 and build something that would blend perfectly with the character of the presbytery Today, it's finally time for the last stage of this project! This week, we're finishing the entire structure: 👉 installing gutters 👉 searching for reclaimed historic materials 👉 laying a natural slate roof 👉 adding a traditional roof finial 👉 and creating a façade inspired by an old technique rarely seen today: wooden shingles 🪓 Originally, we planned to reuse old slates from the church located directly opposite the presbytery ⛪ Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan... After some searching, we eventually found beautiful reclaimed slates on Leboncoin at a very reasonable price 💰 We also managed to find a stunning antique roof finial that perfectly matches the weather vanes, roof ornaments and architectural details of the presbytery ❤️ This week also marks the return of our friend Fredo, who came to give us a helping hand on the project 💪 To finish the pigeon loft, we decided to use a traditional building technique that is becoming increasingly rare today: Making wooden shingles by hand using an axe 🪓 For this, we reused old oak recovered from the presbytery as well as timber salvaged from previous renovation projects. A true reclaimed-material project, just the way we like it 😍 And honestly... The final result exceeded all of our expectations ❤️ This small pigeon loft has become much more than a simple garden shed.
