Anıl ATAR-Yaşar SERİNTÜRK/ADANA, (DHA) - Mahmut Tarhan (35), whose workplace was shot 13 times for failing to pay a 15 million lira extortion demanded over the phone in Adana, was shot 13 times at his workplace. Şehmuz A. (23) surrendered to the police, and his older brother, Mevlan A. (27), was apprehended. Mevlan A. and Şehmuz A., who claimed a feud over not being able to collect payment for a car Tarhan had transferred to his brother, were referred to the courthouse. In October, a man called Mahmut Tarhan, a businessman who owns two furniture and construction factories in the city, on his cell phone, allegedly saying, "We've fined you. You must pay us 5 million lira. Otherwise, you'll end up in a bad way," demanding extortion. When he refused to pay, Tarhan continued to receive threatening phone calls. His workplace and vehicles in the Gülbahçesi neighborhood of the Seyhan district were shot 13 times over a five-month period. Despite filing a complaint, Tarhan received no results. The suspects increased the extortion demanded during this process to 15 million lira. The moments of the armed attack were captured on security cameras. SHOT IN THE LEG On March 3rd, a helmeted man arrived at Tarhan's workplace on a motorcycle, pointed a gun at his older brother, Mehmet Emin Tarhan, who was sitting in the seat, and pulled the trigger. When the gun jammed, Tarhan stood up and pushed the suspect out of the shop. Mahmut Tarhan, who heard the noise and went out into the street, chased after the suspect, who fled after a scuffle. He lost his balance, fell to the ground, and shot Mahmut Tarhan in the leg before fleeing. "I HAVE NO LIFE" A medical team was dispatched to the address upon receiving the report and took Mahmut Tarhan to the hospital after receiving initial treatment. Tarhan underwent surgery, but the bullet, which had lodged in a bone, was not removed. Tarhan, who was discharged and is currently receiving treatment at home, stated that he was unable to work after receiving threats. He said, “I'm thinking of leaving the city. My factories are at a standstill, and my employees have no security. I considered renting out my workplace and leaving. Then I heard they were going to harass the tenants. We bowed to three or five people.” SUSPECT SURRENDERED TO POLICE Police teams launched an investigation into the incident and identified Şehmuz A. as the suspect who carried out the attack. His brother, Mevlan A., was detained during an operation at the suspect's address. Şehmuz A., who was not at the address, went to the police station and surrendered. During his interrogation at the police station, Mevlan A. claimed that the incident stemmed from a debt, saying, “Five months ago, I transferred my car to Mahmut's brother, Ali İhsan, for 550,000 lira. In return, I received a promissory note with Mahmut as guarantor. When I couldn't reach Ali İhsan, I asked Mahmut for my money. They didn't pay me.” "HE CURSED AT MY BROTHER" The armed attacker, Şehmuz A., testified, "Mahmut called my brother and cursed him, saying, 'Did you shoot my car?' My brother hung up and didn't respond. I got angry and went to work. I fired a gun during the fight." Şehmuz A. and Mevlan A. were referred to the courthouse after their procedures were completed at the police station. (DHA) WITH PHOTOS For the full news: https://songelisme.com/15-milyon-hara...
