Our Ocean, Our Heritage, Our Future | Voices from the 11th Our Ocean Conference, Mombasa 2026
The 11th Our Ocean Conference brought together delegates, partners, community members, and ocean advocates in Mombasa, Kenya, for three days of commitments, dialogue, and announcements aimed at advancing ocean protection and sustainable use. In this compilation, participants reflect on what the conference meant to them, from announcements on deep-sea mining precaution and IUU fishing transparency to the launch of new blue finance instruments and the inclusion of local fishing communities and Indigenous peoples in policy discussions. Several speakers also noted the significance of OOC11 as the first Our Ocean Conference held on the African continent. Hosted by the Government of Kenya, 16--18 June 2026, under the theme "Our Ocean, Our Heritage, Our Future." Learn more: https://ouroceankenya.com #OOC11 #OurOceanKenya
