A forest fire that broke out this Thursday in Los Gallardos, in the province of Almería, has caused the death of at least 11 people. Canal 24 Horas spoke with Jordi Murtra, a forest fire expert. "The images clearly show the location: a tremendously difficult-to-access terrain. This hinders any firefighting efforts by vehicles, etc. The intervention practically has to be aerial. Looking at the images, I'm reminded of how fortunate Spain is to have the UME, the Military Emergency Unit, because there's a tremendous shortage of firefighters in Spain.
