Rêverie: The Art of Sibylline Meynet - Book Review and Flip Through

Hey everyone. Welcome to my review and flip through video. This is the first of a new series in which I present a new Art-Related book every month. This video is about the recently released book Reverie by French artist Sibylline Meynet. She is known for gouache illustrations. The book itself is available online through various platforms. I myself bought it through Amazon but I know it was also previously available for pre-order through Kickstarter with some goodies. But since I was only interested in the book itself I bought it normally. The book is not an artbook in the sense of a pure collection of images but very text-heavy. Here she tells from her beginnings as an artist to her current approach to create an illustration. This makes it easier to understand why she adds elements to each illustration and why she uses the appropriate colors. Therefore, I find the book especially interesting for other artists who want to understand her style. Individual tutorials in the back of the book round out the whole thing. I myself have read the book from front to back and analyzed the images from sketch to finished illustration and can say that I find it very interesting. It is a good addition to any collection of artbooks, either to find inspiration or to be able to look at your own work more critically in comparison to heir art. As I said it is a mix of art, tutorials and general information. That's why the price is a bit borderline but I don't regret buying it because I especially wanted to better understand her approach to illustrations and her color choices. What I like most about her art is that she expresses a relaxing calmness through the combination of nature, animals and single female persons in her pictures.
