Sailor Moon Became Something Bigger Than A Story

Sailor Moon has been around for more than 30 years, but somehow it still feels like it's growing. When I first heard that Japan was installing official Sailor Moon manhole covers, I thought it was just a fun piece of news. The more I looked into it, the more I realized it wasn't an isolated thing. Sailor Moon has become part of the identity of Japan, as the country continues to celebrate both the Sailor Moon Manga from Naoko Takeuchi and the Sailor Moon anime versions as well. There's a huge connection between Sailor Moon and Minato City, which is now installing real world celebrations of Sailor Moon as the series continues to have such a lasting impact both in Japan and around the world. It's a reminder that some stories can become a core part of the world around us. I'd also love to hear from you.
