1997 Suburban wont shift out of or into park fix

This should work for the 1988-1999 Suburban, Yukon, and Tahoe. It should work for the 1988-1998 Silverado and Sierra. It sucks when it happens because you can not get it out of park. Most of the people it sounds like if you wiggle it and keep trying you can get it to finally shift out of park but eventually you will be locked in to park. The dealer with charge at least 250 dollars to fix this, but you can do it yourself with just a flat head screwdriver and a little time for under 100 bucks.
