License-free radio that you can enjoy without any qualifications or licenses. One of them is citizen radio, also known as CB radio. This has a transmission output of 500mW, which is easy to understand considering that home Wi-Fi outputs are around 200mW. Citizen radio can communicate by reflecting off the sporadic E layer, which suddenly appears 100km above the ground. It allows communication by reflecting off the layer like a mirror, but it's impossible to know when or where it will occur! It often occurs from early spring to summer at noon or dusk. I started playing with citizen radio at the end of last year, and for the first time, I was able to operate the sporadic E layer!
