STREAM IT #6 Policy Webinar - “Policy in the Making – Governing Gender-Inclusive STEM"
Welcome to the 6th and last of a series of six crucial policy webinars organised by Hétfa Research Institute and Steinbeis Europa Zentrum. This session that took place on 28 May 2026, is part of the broader STREAM IT project, which is committed to forging a path for gender-inclusive STE(A)M education and careers throughout Europe. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁? The STREAM IT project has developed draft policy recommendations to strengthen gender‑inclusivity in STEM. This session invites research funders, public authorities and relevant experts in this field to discuss, validate and refine these recommendations to ensure their relevance, feasibility and impact 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: A key takeaway was the importance of addressing structural inequalities - especially in funding - as a foundation for all other measures. • Participants emphasised turning strategy into practice through inclusive curricula, teacher training, and targeted support mechanisms. • Building on existing knowledge, tools, and networks was highlighted as more effective than creating parallel structures from scratch. • Clear definitions, aligned implementation levels, and shared understanding were seen as essential to make policies actionable. • Long-term impact depends on sustained collaboration and supporting underrepresented groups throughout their educational and career pathways. ---------------- More details on: • STREAM IT project 🔗 www.streamit-project.eu • Hétfa Research Institute 🔗 www.hetfa.eu • Steinbeis Europa Zentrum 🔗 www.steinbeis-europa.de
