From Plaza de la Aduana in Cartagena, presidential candidate Abelardo De La Espriella responded with a resounding rejection of the Bogotá Superior Court's order giving him 24 hours to remove his political campaign materials. Before hundreds of supporters, the candidate asserted that a judge had "decided" to silence them and called for a defiant round of applause that could be heard all the way to the nation's capital. Contrary to the injunction prohibiting the use of national symbols and the "Firmes por la Patria" (Steadfast for the Homeland) and "Defensores de la Patria" (Defenders of the Homeland) trademarks, De La Espriella urged his followers to flood their phone statuses and social media with images, anthems, and slogans of the movement.
