OPENING OF THE BDF–TBPS JOINT ARREST POWERS TRAINING PROGRAM 1-2026 The Barbados Defence Force (BDF) and The Barbados Police Service (TBPS) officially launched the BDF–TBPS Joint Arrest Powers Training Program 1-2026 on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Hodgson Hall, St. Ann's Fort. The programme is designed to equip BDF personnel with the knowledge and practical understanding of arrest powers, enabling them to effectively support police officers during joint operations. The ceremony began with welcome remarks from Inspector Ryan Brathwaite, who served as Master of Ceremonies. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Sonia Boyce addressed participants on the importance of understanding and lawfully exercising arrest powers, emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and respect for citizens' rights. Lieutenant Colonel Julia DaBreo highlighted the importance of military professionalism and maintaining public trust while supporting law enforcement operations. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Stephen Herbert provided an overview of the programme, outlining its objectives, expectations, and intended outcomes. He then officially declared the training programme open. The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the BDF and TBPS to strengthening inter-agency cooperation, enhancing operational readiness, and improving service to the people of Barbados.
