Rita Lobo: “Aprender a cozinhar foi a coisa mais transformadora da vida” | THE BUSINESS OF LIFE

Published on: November 21, 2024 Before becoming a reference in gastronomy, chef and presenter Rita Lobo worked as a model in her teens. At 18, after a culinary course in New York, she realized that cooking could have a "transformative impact" and decided to pursue a career in it. "Learning to cook was the most transformative thing in my life," she said in this episode of The Business of Life. "First, because of the feeling of autonomy. You need to eat three times a day, every day. It doesn't make sense to depend on another person or an industry that doesn't have your health as a point of interest, but rather to sell bad products at the lowest price." Then, because of the feeling of "pleasure and victory" that comes from arriving home and being able to prepare something tasty with few ingredients, she says. For over 20 years, Lobo has been teaching the basics of cooking through her books (11 have already been published), on television – with the program "Cozinha Prática" on GNT – and on her website Panelinha. “Food has always been seen as the responsibility of the housewife, but, for me, it should be everyone's responsibility. Men, women, all genders and ages.” For her, “giving up cooking is giving up your own health, because you become vulnerable to the fads and marketing strategies of the ultra-processed food industry.” Watch on Brazil Journal: https://braziljournal.com/rita-lobo-a...
