GAEYC ECE Policy Action Network April 2026
The Georgia Association for the Education of Young Children's April 2025 Policy Action Network meeting provided updates on Georgia's legislative session outcomes and federal budget advocacy priorities. Georgia's FY27 budget includes $9.7M for CAPS scholarships covering before/after care for Pre-K, paid leave for Pre-K teachers, and expanded Rising Pre-K Summer Transition slots. However, no additional general revenue was allocated to CAPS despite serving only 7% of eligible children—the lowest threshold nationally. Federal advocacy focuses on protecting funding for Child Care Development Block Grant, Head Start, and three programs eliminated in the President's budget proposal.
