Christian Hosoi: Busted!

Christian Hosoi was once Tony Hawk's greatest rival in skateboarding. While Hawk won more events, Hosoi was the highest paid skateboarder in the world. For years it was a given that the finals would feature Hosoi and Hawk. Hosoi was more like a rock star than any skateboarder before or since his mid 1980s prime. He was admired by actors and musicians like the Red Hot Chili Peppers who wore "Free Hosoi" T-shirts at a concert while Hosoi was in prison. The open secret in Christian's life was drug use. While still at his athletic peak, Hosoi was arrested at the Honolulu airport with a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine. The result was a conviction for interstate trafficking, and five years behind bars. This was the first time Hosoi had been denied anything, and he began searching for life's meaning.
