The night before Diana's wedding, Charles cried, saying to another woman, "I’ll always love you."

On February 24, 1981, wearing a blue suit and looking very happy, Diana, still under 20, held the hand of Charles, who was 13 years older than her, as they attended their first public interview. In front of the whole world, they announced their engagement. During the television interview, a reporter asked, "Do you love each other?" Prince Charles replied, "Well, whatever in love means really." In a recently released 1993 tape, recorded after Diana and Charles had separated, Diana said, "When I heard him say that, my heart completely sank."
