RE-LIT: The San Diego Pipe Club
The San Diego Pipe Club was founded in the early 2010s, faded over time, and was re-lit in 2018. In its earliest days, the club gathered in restaurants and homes, with members occasionally attending pipe shows together. Early attendees included Jeff Gracik of J. Alan Pipes and Shane Ireland, before his time at smokingpipes.com. Today, the San Diego Pipe Club is far more active. Members meet twice a week at Liberty Tobacco in San Diego. The club has its own pipe tobacco blend, grows pipe tobacco, and regularly attends the Las Vegas International Pipe Show as a group, hosting multiple tables to promote the club and the artisans within it. This documentary traces the history of the San Diego Pipe Club and documents its current activities, but more importantly, it shows what the club means to its members beyond pipes and tobacco, a place shaped by friendship, shared purpose, and mutual support across generations.
