Title: Afrolistic, Black Healing from Zimbabwe to the Bay Synopsis: In “Afrolistic: Black Healing from Zimbabwe to the Bay,” documentary short Nekia Wright, a sound healer and African traditional practitioner, leaves her career as a public school educator in the US to embark on a transformative journey to Zimbabwe. There, she delves into the profound beauty and brilliance of traditional healing and dance practices, sharing her discoveries and experiences in this enlightening documentary. Nekia has been honored as a 2024 Black Futures Resident with Zaccho, a recipient of the 2024 San Francisco Arts Commission Dreamkeeper Award, the New Champions Award from the Educating All Learners Alliance, and the Ubuntu Award from the African American Arts and Culture Center.
