Exhibition Tour ‘Van Gogh and the Roulins. Together Again at Last'
Step inside the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and explore the exhibition ‘Van Gogh and the Roulins: Together Again at Last.’ See Vincent van Gogh’s portraits of postman Joseph Roulin and his family reunited for the first time. A rare chance to see these vibrant works side by side. The exhibition was on view at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam from 3 October 2025 until 11 January 2026. The exhibition highlighted an important period in Vincent van Gogh’s life, when his focus on people around him led to a series of intimate, colourful portraits filled with character and warmth. In 1888, during his stay in Arles in the South of France, Van Gogh became close friends with Joseph Roulin, a postman known for his striking beard and blue uniform. Their friendship inspired Van Gogh to create a touching series of portraits of Joseph, his wife Augustine, and their children Armand, Camille, and Marcelle. These paintings mark a defining moment in Van Gogh’s artistic journey and his development as a portrait painter.
