Prof. Marianne Schlosser, Austria: Mysterious Presence – Theology of Eucharistic Adoration Esztergom, Theological Symposium - September 3, 2021 Marianne Schlosser studied Latin Philology and Catholic Theology at the University of Munich. In 1989, she received her doctorate in Theology. Her dissertation was awarded a research grant from the University. In 1998, the University conferred upon her the title of habilitated doctor in recognition of her outstanding work in dogmatics and the history of dogma. From 1985 to 2004, she was a research associate at the Martin Grabmann Research Institute in Munich, ultimately holding the positions of Academic Advisor and Lecturer. Since October 2004, she has been Professor of Theology of Spirituality at the University of Vienna. Upon her appointment, she founded her own Institute for Theology, with which she has done pioneering work in the German-speaking world. On September 23, 2014, Pope Francis appointed her to the International Theological Commission for a five-year term. In August 2016, the Holy Father appointed her to the Commission for the History of the Women Diaconate. The theologian, who teaches at the University of Vienna, has been an advisor to the Faith Commission of the German Bishops' Conference since 2016 and a member of the Theological Commission of the Austrian Bishops' Conference since 2018. Her main research interests are theology, patristics, and the spirituality of the flourishing Middle Ages, with a particular focus on the mendicant orders (Bonaventure, Catherine of Siena), the Eucharist, and the study of classical texts with a Christian spirituality. Her scholarly work was recognized with the Ratzinger Prize in 2018. ESZTERGOM | 2-4.
