According to the police, four named accused were absconding in the May 29 murder case of hotelier Vineet Rai. A bounty had been announced on all of them. Late last night, police received information that Kamlesh Chaudhary, a criminal wanted in the murder case with a reward of ₹1 lakh, was present near Kurtha village. Based on the information, the SWAT team and local police cordoned off the area. Upon seeing the police team, the accused opened fire and attempted to flee. The SWAT team in-charge, Rohit Mishra, was hit by a bullet, injuring him. Kamlesh Chaudhary was injured in the police's retaliatory fire and was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Ghazipur Superintendent of Police, Dr. Iraj Raja, stated that Vineet Rai was shot dead on the night of May 29th and 30th. Kamlesh Chaudhary (Bind) was the named accused in the murder of hotelier Vineet Rai and had been on the run since the incident. Shankar Pandey, the main mastermind and leader of the Katra gang, remains at large. A reward of ₹1 lakh has been announced for him.
