Born in Sri Lanka in April 1945. Became a monk at the age of 13. Teach Buddhist philosophy at the National University of Kelaniya. He came to Japan in 1980 as a government-sponsored student. After completing his doctoral studies at Komazawa University, he is currently engaged in Buddhist evangelism and meditation instruction at the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association. He also appears on NHK Educational TV's "The Age of the Heart" and serves as a lecturer at the Asahi Culture Center.
