The oldest living examples of Bergama house belong to the 18th century. Traditional Turkish houses lined up side by side and the Greek houses in the masonry form the streets of the Kale Quarter. In Seljuk and Barbaros districts, the life pattern of the Ottoman period is observed intensively. In terms of the traditional housing concept, the houses which have the knitted types such as crushed stone, rubble stone, fine chipped stone wall and stone and brick alternate welcome the visitors within the World Heritage Site. Many of the renovated buildings serve as a hotel or restaurant and carry the legacy of the past to the present day. In an unexpected moment, visitors come across a Turkish house in the garden walls in Bergama. Most of these historical Bergama houses, which have characteristic facade arrangements with plan types, doors, windows, eaves, chimney features, floor wiping, bay windows and balconies, are registered as immovable cultural assets.
