KASP - 2021.02.25 - Water tower in Mwembeni in Kenya

The project involved the modernization of a water supply in the village of Mwabungu, the hamlet of Mwembeni in Kenya. The original well was equipped with a manual water pump which was rather cumbersome to use. Pumping water several times a day was a real struggle for malnourished Kenyan women and children who are responsible for delivering water to their houses. The modernization consisted of building a high water tower with a large tank (10,000 litres) on top. A submersible pump driven by an electric motor is used to raise the groundwater to the reservoir, then the gravity helps to distribute the water downwards through four pipes ending with taps.
