The Dance of the Dragons was a civil war fought between 129 and 131 AC during the reign of the Targaryen Dynasty. It was a war of succession between Rhaenyra and her half-brother Aegon for the throne of their father, King Viserys I Targaryen. Ultimately, Aegon seized control of the Iron Throne, crowning himself Aegon II after killing Rhaenyra. However, he too later died without any surviving male heirs, and Rhaenyra's son was recognized as heir. He reigned as Aegon III and married his uncle's daughter, Jaehaera, thus reuniting House Targaryen.
