His mother, Roxana, allegedly arrived home intoxicated from a party and forgot the child strapped into his car seat inside the SUV. The medical examiner confirmed first-degree burns on Vicente's thighs and forearms, determining heatstroke as the cause of death. Roxana N. was arrested for neglect and could face up to six years in prison. The case has generated outrage in Mexicali and Baja California, where extreme temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Possible links between Roxana and Governor Marina del Pilar have been suggested, although without official confirmation.
