Diputados aprueban reforma electoral para dar diputados a la diáspora. GMV
In Thursday's plenary session, lawmakers approved a series of reforms to harmonize secondary legislation with the constitutional amendments that grant representation to the diaspora in Congress; of the 60 representatives, 6 will be from abroad. The number of representatives from the departments of San Salvador and La Libertad will be reduced for the 2027 elections following the addition of 6 seats to represent the diaspora in the Legislative Assembly. The reforms were criticized by the opposition, who consider them a mechanism to concentrate power.
