Studs: a fashion film by Nick Knight questioning gender labels
Nick Knight's ground-breaking 2012 fashion film, Studs, pushes gender boundaries. As defined by one of the subjects of the film, a 'stud' is 'a masculine, butch tomboy who is a lesbian.' Exploring the idea of a third gender, Simon Foxton and Bea Sweet recruit a range of subjects who refuse to comply with traditional notions of the sexes. The portraits - each a study of unconventional beauty - are captured by Nick Knight in nine unique photo studies. http://showstudio.com/project/studs
