Sweet Orange Rolls
These rolls are filled and topped with a mixture of orange zest, orange juice and confectioners' sugar. They look and taste exactly like sunshine. Ingredients are listed below: For the Sweet Roll Dough (enough for 2 batches): 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast 1/2 cup (118ml) warm water (110°F or 43°C) 1/2 cup (118ml) lukewarm milk (scalded and then cooled) 1/3 cup (67g) sugar 1/3 cup (76g) shortening or butter, softened 1 teaspoon salt 1 large egg 3 1/2 cups (500g) all-purpose or "plain" flour For the citrus filling/topping (enough for 1 batch of rolls): 3 tablespoons softened butter The grated peel of 1 large naval orange (1 tablespoon) The juice of 1 large naval orange (2 tablespoons) 1 1/2 cups (170g) confectioners' sugar Bake 20-25 minutes at 375°F.
