One Life to Live 11/16/1990

Lucky thinks Jake is nuts for sticking by Charlotte. Megan, who is at the beach cabin where she and Jake have shared so many memories. She tells Lucky she rented it for the winter and she and Jake were supposed to spend every weekend there. She sends Lucky home so she can wallow alone. Tina dreams that Johnny comes to take her away and that Cord wants her to go with him. When she wakes up in tears, Viki comforts her. Viki says she mustn’t give up hope of reconciling with Cord. Shed says just as Tina is sitting here thinking Cord doesn’t want to see her, Cord could be sitting somewhere thinking the same thing about her. Max tells Cord he knows he spent the night at the Palace Hotel, but Cord says he didn’t get any sleep. Max asks if he’s thought of calling Tina and Cord says hes tried but can’t bring himself to do it. Max thinks Tina compromised herself to save Cord, which takes guts and a lot of love. He feels that Cord should hear Tina out. Max says the only thing that matters is that he loves Tina and knows she loves him, so they should try to find a way to make it work. Jake tells Carlo if his offer is serious he’s willing to accept, with a few modifications. Jake names his terms: he doesn’t want any money; he’s just trying to do the right thing. Carlo is speechless and grateful. Jake says he won’t pretend to love Charlotte but he will stick by her as a friend. If Carlo implies anything more than friendship, Jake says he will walk away and it will be on Carlo. Carlo’s investigator gives him a dossier on Megan. Rika and Kerry finally make it to the cabin and almost scare Laura and Dan half to death. Rika warns Laura that Greg is on the warpath. She says he threatened her to try and gt Laura’s location, but she didn't give him what he wanted. As the four of them have dinner, Laura has trouble concentrating; she fears Greg will find them. Dan says Greg is a hothead and if he knew where they were, he would have already kicked in the door. As they eat, drink, and toast inside, Greg is outside pouring gasoline on the side of the cabin. Just as Max is giving Cord a pep talk about reconciling with Tina, Tina walks through the front door of Max’s Place. Cord invites her to sit down, and Tina says she wishes she could make all this better. She asks whether Cord thinks he can ever get over his anger–not necessarily forgive or forget but look at her without hate in his eyes. Cord is unmoved and Tina leaves, wishing she hadn’t come. Max tells Cord to go after her, but Cord thinks he’ll just make things worse. Back at Llanfair, Ciki tries to comfort Tina. Troy drops by to tell them some of his men spotted Johnny’s car last night. He says they gave chase, but the roads were slippery because of the rain. Johnny lost control, skidded through the guardrail, and his car went into the river. Troy says there’s no way he could have survived. Viki asks if he is sure; Troy says they’re still dragging the river for the body, but it’s only a matter of time. Viki gives Troy permission to pull the extra police protection from the house, since the threat is over. Jake takes Charlotte to the beach house where Megan had been eating her weight in ice cream earlier (though Megan is nowhere to be seen). Jake says he brought her here because the place is so small she should be able to get around on her own pretty easily. Jake helps Charlotte turn on the radio. She says she wants to dance, and as they do, Megan returns. Viki hopes that with Johnny gone, she can concentrate on finding a way to get Cord and Tina back together. That is until she hears a noise out in the foyer and see’s Johnny, very much alive, breaking into Llanfair. She tries to convince herself she’s seeing things. Upstairs, Tina records a message for Cord–apologizing for how things went at Max’s Placer today, saying she will always love him, and asking for one more chance. She turns around to find Johnny, gun raised, walking into her room.
