10 Classroom Songs & Chants For Fast and Fun Classroom Transitions and Routines
Classroom transitions can be frustrating. You find yourself saying the same thing over and over and over. Line up. Please, line up. Time to line up. Line up honey. Can everyone please line up. We are lining up now. LINE UP NOOOOOWWWW!!!! Instead of losing your cool and exhausting your voice and your patience, start using these 10 classroom songs & chants to make classroom transitions and routines fun and fast. Here’s something I learned the hard way. My students didn’t listen to my directions on the everyday, mundane, boring things. They just blocked me out. That forced me to address each child individually to do simple tasks like putting their name on their paper, lining up, getting ready for lunch and recess, zipping their coat, doing a turn and talk and the list goes on. They TOTALLY blocked me. So one day I discovered that if I made a classroom song for a transition or a classroom chant to cue a routine they not only listened, they participated in the classroom song or chant and they actually complied with directions found in the song or chant. I don’t want to say it was magic… but… it was MAGIC!!!! Soon I was singing and chanting my way through the day. My students were happy and following the directions the first time. I was happy and I had more energy and my voice at the end of the day. Today you are going to get 10 classroom songs and chants that you can use TODAY. They aren’t hard to remember or use in your classroom. (Believe me if they were hard I wouldn’t share them… or use them. Teachers don’t need complicated strategies, they need easy and effective tools.) Tweak these classroom chants & songs to make them fit you and your classroom. 00:00 Intro 00:35 Punctuation 02:06 Put Your Name On It 03:00 Clean Up 03:58 Turn & Talk 05:00 Walking 06:30 Line Up 07:30 Zip Up Coats 08:45 Recess 09:07 Pick It Up 09:50 Lunch 10:28 End =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Thanks to: **Special thanks to Dawn The Singing Nurse for the awesome music.
