State of Decay 2 is NOT a zombie game

State of Decay 2 is often treated like just another zombie shooter, but I think that misses the point of the entire game. The real charm of State of Decay 2 is building a community, improving relationships with factions (enclaves), fortifying your base, and surviving under constant pressure. The zombies matter, but they are not the whole game. They are the glue that holds all of these systems together. Many people brush this game off too quickly because they expect a generic zombie shooter.
