Schrade SCAXE2L 2lb hatchet with very nice extra features.

The Schrade SCAXE2L is a superbly made hatchet. For the price range that it is in, I think it is a very good unit. The ax head is made of 3CR13 steel. I have not checked to see when this model was released but it certainly was a great day. This hatchet is just under 16 inches and right around 2lbs. I believe that it is 2lbs well invested into your pack when going on a multi-day hike or campout. A knife is great but a very nice hatchet will allow your knife to be used for knife stuff and allow it to last and last and last because this hatchet can do most of your life saving tasks. This hatchet should be living in your bugout or camping bag / backpack, especially if you have no hatchet or ax already.
