Annoying Horizontal Bars In Your Video Surveillance Footage? Try This!
Flickering, horizontal bars on your video surveillance feeds? It most likely has to do with a mismatch between the camera's settings and the alternating currents of its environment. But don't worry! It's a super easy fix. Check out this video for a quick fix to this common issue. When it comes to AC power, the standard in the United States is 60 Hz. The standard pretty much everywhere else in the world, however, is 50 Hz. This may not seem like a big difference, but when it comes to CCTV, the discrepancies actually can cause a bit of an issue. Since most security cameras are developed outside of the United States, they're usually set up out of the box for a 50 Hz environment. This means if you were to install your camera inside, especially in a location with fluorescent lightbulbs, you'll likely get different results depending on where you are in the world. If you're outside of the US in a place where the AC standard is 50 Hz, everything will be fine. But if you are in the United States, you'll probably start to see some horizontal bands flickering across your footage. To fix this horizontal bar issue, all you need to do is adjust your image settings so that it matches a 60 Hz environment. Some security cameras, like Uniview, will have an "Indoor 60 Hz" preset, which means everything can be fixed in just one click. But if your camera doesn't have this preset, you can easily set it up manually to work in a 60 Hz environment. All you need to do is adjust your frame rate and/or shutter speed so that the frames and shutters per second match up with the frequencies of the fluorescent lights. Confused? Don't worry. Just follow the steps in this video, and you should be good! Are you still having issues with your surveillance feeds? That's okay. If you purchased it from us, you have lifetime tech support.
