DIY Truck/SUV Drawers and Bed Slide, Inexpensive and Easily Removable

Need organized storage for camping or work-but want to keep your truck or SUV flexible? In this video, I'll show you how to build a DIY removable drawer system and sliding bed platform that can fit most pickup trucks and SUVs. It's modular, easy to install or remove, and perfect for anyone who needs to switch between adventure and jobsite mode. Adapt to your specific needs for length, width and height. Materials we used, how much you use will depends upon the size you build. You can get as fancy as you want with the materials, sanded, hardwoods, etc., paint or stain. We choose to just leave our raw. Our basic box for the drawers in the bed of our Tacoma 5' bed is 42" x 58 1/2". We used 3/4" BCX sanded plywood for the top of the drawer box and the slide out, 1/4" sanded plywood for bottom of the drawers and the drawer box. 3/4" x 7 1/2" S4S poplar for the drawer box sides, rear and interior rails. For the drawers we used 3/4" x 5 1/2" S4S poplar. The rails on the slide out are 3/4" x 3 1/2" S4S poplar the L shaped pieces holding the slider made out of 3/4" x 3 1/2" S4S poplar ripped to make the pieces. Carpet is indoor/outdoor with a vinyl backing. The runners on the bottom of the slide are white PVC screen moulding 3/8" x 3/4". Bed slide handles are zinc plated chest handles.
