Falklands War veteran Simon Weston condemns Argentina players for parading a banner declaring “Las Malvinas Son Argentinas” ["The Malvinas (Falklands) Are Argentinian"] following their World Cup semi-final victory. Weston, who suffered severe burns in the bombing of the Sir Galahad, says the players politicised their victory and describes their behaviour as “cheap”, “disappointing” and “wholly unacceptable”. He calls on FIFA to take action, arguing that Argentina should “feel the full weight of their authority”, while urging the British Government to challenge Argentina’s escalating rhetoric over the Falkland Islands.
