2023 EPI Talks Campaign Cooking Class with Mia Syn
Digestive diseases affect 60-70 million Americans each year, making healthy eating and good nutrition even more critical for people with digestive discomfort or gastrointestinal (GI) conditions. One of those GI conditions is EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency), an under-recognized condition in which the pancreas cannot properly break down food resulting in poor digestion of essential nutrients such as fats, proteins and carbohydrates. In July’s EPI Talks Campaign Cooking Class, registered dietitian and nutritionist Mia Syn partnered with AbbVie and discussed the critical role of nutrition in managing GI conditions like EPI, provided nutritional guidance around everyday situations and demonstrated three EPI/GI friendly recipes. In 2022, AbbVie launched the EPI Talks Campaign, an initiative highlighting perspectives of living with or caring for someone with EPI, and the importance of diagnosis and raising awareness of EPI.
