The Beatles: "Love You To" - Vinyl Friday #69
I found out on the Beatles subreddit a few years back that many people skip "Love You To" when they listen to Revolver. I was aghast. So if you happen to be one of those people who has ever felt this urge to skip the fourth track of this masterpiece of an album, I've made this episode for you. It's taken me longer than just about any episode I've done (clocking in at about 9 hours!), but it's also taught me more than any other Vinyl Friday to date. Frankly, I LOVED making this one. "Love You To" is a seminal piece of work in the canon of contemporary popular music, and I've done my best to convey just a few of the umpteen reasons why. Normally, I just like to rave about good music, but I aim to convert the naysayers on this one. I hope I've given it the treatment it so deserves. In this episode: I sing into my beloved acoustic guitar, George Harrison gets cosy with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I GET TO PLAY A SITAR. A massive thank you to my friend and special guest Shalu for being a part of this episode. I'm not certain I could have done it without you!
