Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) | Apraxia Awareness Month | 2026

Apraxia Awareness Month – Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) This video shares the real journeys of four children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), a rare and severe motor speech disorder. Children with CAS usually understand what others say to them and are highly motivated to communicate, but are extremely difficult to understand when they speak. Through these stories, this video helps explain what childhood apraxia of speech can look like across childhood, why speech may remain very unclear even as children get older, and why access to appropriate motor‑based intervention matters. It also aims to increase community awareness of CAS by focusing on real‑world intelligibility, communication impact, and lived experience. This video is intended for parents, carers, educators, speech pathologists, and community members who want to better understand childhood apraxia of speech. Presented by Olga Komadina, Speech Pathologist and Childhood Apraxia of Speech specialist, Australia. Website: https://www.olgakomadinapraxiatherapy...
