Review of From Russia, with Love (1957) - A Labour of Love
SMERSH has had enough of James Bond's meddling. Time for revenge. However, they are going to eliminate him only after he plays into their hands as part of a devious trap. From Russia, with Love has quite the reputation amongst Bond fans, whether it be in book or film form. Most importantly, this is when Bond started to take off as a literary phenomenon. Considering the film is one of my favorites, do I have the same high praise for the original novel? Mostly, yeah. Next in the Series: The Diamond Smugglers (1957)
