1976 Holden Torana hatch SS replica The Holden Torana Hatch is an iconic Aussie muscle car made famous predominantly through its success on the race track through the late 70s. This example started life as a base model, 6cyl car that was purchased by the current owner approximately 8 years ago. He tells us at the time the car was completely 80’s styled and was covered in murals. While that might have been cool back in it’s day, these cars are rad enough the way they were from new, so the current owner began the process of restoring the car to its former glory along with a few upgrades. The car was stripped down and the few places that showed any signs of bubbling were cut out and plated. The car was then repainted in its current Red and Black SS style colour scheme. The hatch was already flared when he bought it however the flares were all redone to ensure they fitted correctly. The final result is a nice and tidy body with lovely paintwork all round. The car sits on a nice set of 15” Simmons two piece wheels with meaty tyres all round featuring 285’s up front and massive 345’s framing the drop tank out the back. Under the bonnet received a fully rebuilt 308ci V8 engine with mild cam, Yella Terra heads and Edelbrock Torker manifold. The engine was all balanced during the rebuild and has less than 500kms on it since it was completed. The transmission is a Turbo 350 3 speed automatic with a small stall converter. The gearbox was pulled last year and given a freshen up with new seals and new bands. The differential is a brand new Borg Warner item with 3.45 ratio gears. The disks on the back of the car are all new and the front calipers have been reconditioned. Likewise the suspension is all less than a few thousand kms old. Inside the car was all retrimmed back to a standard SS look in black vinyl approximately 7 years ago. The interior features a full roll cage which was in the car when the current owner got it and is noted on the QLD mod plate. Along with the automatic transmission, the car also features rack and pinion power steering and working air conditioning making it a very nice comfortable car to cruise around in. These Torana hatches are one of our most requested cars and are always popular whenever we get one on the floor.
