“Ríos de agua viva” (Juan 7,38). Experiencia del Espíritu Santo en Juan (2a Parte)

Fr. Fidel Oñoro cjm Presentation: The Experience of the Spirit in John (Part 2) “Rivers of Living Water” (John 7:38) This presentation explains in detail Jesus’ promise: “As Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’” (7:38). Exegetical problems are addressed, and the richness of this powerful image as it relates to the Holy Spirit is carefully explored. The narrator’s note is also clarified: “He was referring to the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified” (7:39). The first presentation explained the context of the text, the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles), clarifying why the image of water predominates. The theme of “thirst” was explored in depth. And so the question was answered: How does Jesus communicate to us the water of life, the water of his Spirit, which at the same time allows us to perceive and quench our deepest thirst, the thirst for God? Now the question is answered: What, ultimately, is this water of life? Why the rivers? What is the connection to the glorification of Jesus? .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
