On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, a meeting was held to discuss preparations for the construction of the Bukittinggi-Sicincin Section of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road as an effort to accelerate the implementation of the National Strategic Project. The meeting was attended by Andre Rosiade, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives; Dedie Tri Haryadi, Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office; Dedy Gunawan, Director of Toll Roads at the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Public Works; Elsa Putra Friandi, Head of the West Sumatra National Land Agency (BPJN); Teddi Guspriadi, Head of the West Sumatra National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office; Koentjoro, President Director of PT Hutama Karya; Benny Warlis, Regent of Agam; Eka Putra, Regent of Tanah Datar; Ramlan Nurmatias, Mayor of Bukittinggi; and other relevant stakeholders. The meeting discussed the readiness of the construction phases, from the preparation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and site determination to land acquisition. All parties committed to strengthening synergy to ensure each stage runs according to established regulations and targets. It is hoped that the construction of the Bukittinggi-Sicincin Section of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road can soon enter the implementation phase, thereby improving connectivity, facilitating public mobility and logistics, and stimulating economic growth in West Sumatra.
