The simplest multicam live streaming setup I've ever used.
My entire live stream setup costs under $3,000 and takes 2 minutes to set up — down from $20,000 and a two-person crew. Here's exactly what I'm using: an M-series MacBook Pro (~$1,700), two DJI Osmo Pocket 3s (~$500 each), a DJI mic with receiver (~$300), and Ecamm software. That's it. With this setup I'm streaming to YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram simultaneously — horizontal and vertical — hitting five different placements from one live stream. Trying Ecamm? The software (Ecamm) is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It's what turns the Osmo Pocket 3s into PTZ cameras with up to 20 preset angles — so two cameras become 10 angles, all controlled remotely. It also handles the multistream to YouTube/Facebook/Instagram with a single title and description push, pulls all your comments into one window, and outputs native-looking vertical and horizontal simultaneously. My producer Nuti runs the PTZ controls remotely while I cook. A few production tricks worth stealing: Rule of thirds, center focus — keep all the action in the middle third of your horizontal frame so vertical crops for Instagram and Shorts always look native A-camera/B-camera discipline — keep one Osmo as your static wide shot; only move the second one, and always cut back to the A before repositioning Hook your live streams like a produced video — a strong open and clear structure means the VOD lives on YouTube as evergreen content long after you go offline.
