PATRIA Y VIDA: Reflections on Art and Politics in Cuba
Presented in partnership with the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies at Vanderbilt University. On Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Frist Art Museum and the Center for Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies (CLACX) at Vanderbilt University for a panel inspired by the exhibition On the Horizon: Contemporary Cuban Art from the Pérez Art Museum Miami. Moderated by Celso Castilho (director, CLACX) and featuring María Magdalena Campos-Pons (exhibiting artist and Cornelius Vanderbilt Endowed Chair of Fine Arts, Vanderbilt University), Luis Martínez (student, Vanderbilt University), and David Plazas (opinion and engagement director, USA Today/The Tennessean), this discussion will explore current events and contemporary social and political issues in Cuba.
