The KLM Nurul Salsa sank in the waters west of Polassi Island, Bontosikuyu District, Selayar Islands. The ship sank while sailing from Jampea Island, Passimasunggu District, to Rauf Rahman Port, Benteng, the capital of Selayar, on Wednesday (July 15, 2026). Diska Yanti, 8 years old, is experiencing deep sorrow. She lost her mother, Melida (31), who died on a life jacket while trying to survive the sinking of the KLM Nurul Salsa. Initially, Diska Yanti was held by her mother, Melida, and her father, Hasbi (41), who remained inseparable from her after she fell into the water when the KLM Nurul Salsa sank.
