I Found Malibu's Hidden Island...Until It Disappeared

I showed up at Malibu expecting a normal morning of filming from the pier. Malibu had other plans. With the pier closed, I wandered down to the beach and discovered the lowest tide I'd ever seen there. The rocks stretched all the way out toward the lineup, creating what felt like a hidden island in the middle of Malibu. Naturally, I thought it would be the perfect place to set up my camera. At first, it was incredible. Surfers were using the rocks as a shortcut to the lineup, birds had turned the area into their own buffet, and there were still overhead waves rolling in from the recent swell. Then the tide started coming back. What began as the perfect filming location quickly became an island... and I realized I might have waited a little too long to leave.
