Dan “Stork” Roddick - Episode: 01
For the very first episode of Out of Production, Nate Doss and Terry Miller sit down with one of the most influential figures in the history of flying disc sports Dan “Stork” Roddick, PDGA #003. From receiving his very first flying disc as a child in 1952 to helping shape the rules, culture, and organizations that built modern disc golf, Stork has truly seen it all. In this conversation, he shares stories from the earliest days of flying disc competition, designing games with friends as a kid, winning a car in 1974 while competing in disc golf and DDC, working at Wham-O during some of its most important years, and helping guide organizations like the PDGA and WFDF from the ground up. More than just a history lesson, this episode is an honest, funny, and deeply personal conversation with someone whose fingerprints are all over the sport we know today. Stork’s humility, humor, and incredible memory make this a must-listen for anyone who wants to understand where disc golf came from and the people who helped shape it along the way.
